Started shooting right handed recurves in 1974 with some middle school friends.
Moved to Montana to attend university and picked up bowhunting with a compound in 1982. Got my first left hand compound, a Proline in 1984.
Started shooting FSL NFAA events with fingers when I moved to Utah in 1985.
Switched to compound unlimited in 2000 and brought my Vegas round average up to 298 with a personal best compound FITA of 580 at the 2003 Utah Classic.
Decided on a wild hair to try to qualify for the Olympic Trials in January of 2004. I had only ever shot 3 arrows with a left handed recurve in my life.
Was able to attend only one qualifier for the Olympic Trials and shot a heart breaking 591 in some stiff winds, missing the 600 minimum score by just 9 points after only 4 months shooting the recurve.
Personal Recurve Bests:
18m FITA - 583
25m FITA - 576
70m Double - 658
30m - 350
50m - 327
70m - 335
90m - 310
Outdoor FITA - 1300
Best tournament finish 8th at the 2006 Indoor US Nationals
Some day would love to put together my best round!
