I never knew that archery is an interesting sport. The way i saw it, it was just a sport where a bunch of people pull their bows and hit the target with their arrows. Their objective? To hit the BULLSEYE! boring at first. But I learned to love this sport when our school (Silliman University, Dumaguete City, Philippines) needed high school archers to train for the junior regional competition. A friend of mine dragged me into it so i joined in. My primary reason during that time was to have some fun and try something new. My real sport is skeet shooting (with my dad). My dad is the chief police officer in the town where I live in, and indeed, he's got quick hands to draw that 0.38 caliber pistol. I really developed and learned to love this sport as time passed. Now I'm 17, and I've been shooting for more than a year now. I intend to join the Philippine National Team someday. But for now, my destiny is only half accomplished because I only belong to the Philippine Training Pool. I scored 1120 during the last qualifying tournament in Manila, I only lacked 30 points to reach the cut-off, but no hard feelings, I'll definitely be back next year. I learned to be more patient and sportsmanlike when I joined archery, and I'm sure I'll be needing it when I shoot because it is more of a mental game than physical.....!
