keep in mind, nothing is set in stone... a lot of archery is theory. As far as technical info is concerned I like a lot of the different viewpoints, but again I like to keep it simple. I recommend using the news groups as a secondary resource and try to get a good coach to work with you. All the time one could spend on the net couldn't compensate for the same amount of time spent on the range with a viable coach.
I shoot a Hoyt enticer, set at 58# @ my draw of 29.5" with the E-wheel. My Arrows are ACE 470 29" with spinwing vanes.
My rest is a Golden Key (one of the micro adjustable models) with custom ramp style rest. I've been playing with Cordoza's Phase One String (Spectra), with Spectra serving, and a simple brass nock set. I currently have been stabilizing this set up with a 30" stabilizer from Leven Industries (Doinkers). I use a Turnagrip tennis grip around the entire grip. I've been shooting with a Sure Loc site powered by a Super Scope 3x and Super Peep from Specialty Archery. I shoot this set up with a Carter Same Old Thing release. I also use a wrist sling that I made.
Now I'm not just limited to my training wheels, I also shoot a Hoyt Radian Recurve. It's a 68" bow 46# @ my draw and I shoot with the old Carbon Plus limbs. I'm shooting ACE 470's with spinwing vanes. My rest is an ARE free tune rest (its a cool little rest)! I've been using Easton ACE stabilizers on this set up, but will be changing to Leven Industries, mainly because they look cool! (I use side rods w/ v bar and one small extension at the top of my bow). Aiming is done with a Shibuya sight, and I put my string just to the right of my optic. The Tab I use is a Caviler Elite, with a custom ledge and spacer I made out of acrylic. I use the same homemade sling I use for my compound. I just made two bow strings out of Dynaflight 97, so I don't know how it will perform with this material.
I have been shooting for a while, but wasn't serious about it until I was seventeen years old. I'm now an NAA level 3 coach, and I coach for a JOAD club in my area.
Archery has many similarities with some martial arts... I believe there are as many variations in shooting technique and form, as there are shooters, although there are also some basic things that many of the top shooters do. Nothing is set in stone... I often say to my students, "The bow is a machine, it doesn't need your help to shoot."
