I shoot a J.D. Berry, 64" Yaweh Longbow. It's 65 lbs at 27". I perfer tapered cedar shafts with a 140gr. tip and 5 1/2" banana cut fletching. This allows me to use a 135gr. judo point and a 140gr. Snuffer broadhead. My arrows weigh in approx. 610gr.
After sustaining an injury to me left elbow that left me with 65% loss of use, I lQQked for a sport. Switching from righty to lefty ( because i cannot straighten my left arm todate), I found that arcehry imitated the therapists excercising movements of stretching, I began to regain strength and loss use after intense shooting. It took me months to be able to shoot a 50 compound bow. Soon after i was able to compete with any local 3D shooter .After getting bored with shooting a compound I made the switch to Longbow, of which I feel there is no better way to shoot a bow. In the area i live there has been a big revival of traditional shooting. This has allowed for many of us to share ideas, equipment, etc., inwhich growth has allowd for some exceptional shooters in a short amount of time.
After shooting a bow, particularly a longbow, I feel there is no better satisfaction then when a good shot is made.
This is only surpassed when I see the expression of my 7yr.old son's face when he hits a "10" on a 3-D target.
